Which personal data we collect and why

Comments

When visitors leave comments on the website, we gather the data shown in the comments form, as well as the visitor’s IP address and the user-agent string of the browser to help detect spam.

An anonymous chain created from your e-mail address (also called a hash chain) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. The Gravatar service privacy policy is available here: https://automattic.com/privacy/. After approving your comment, your profile image is visible to the public in the context of your comment.

Media

If you upload images onto the website, you should avoid uploading images that contain location data (GPS EXIF). Visitors to the website can download and extract any location data from website images.

How long we keep your data

If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata will be saved indefinitely. This is so we can recognise and approve successive comments automatically instead of keeping them in the moderating queue.

We also save the personal information provided in the user profile of the users registered with our website (if there are any). All users can see, edit or delete their personal information at any time (but they cannot change their username). The website administrators can also see and edit that information.
